August Readathons

Bookupdate, second half of august.

I decided that this is the first ever summer I’m going to participate in Readathons because reading on your own is fine, but reading with other readers motivates me even more. I discovered that readingsprints are super super motivating and I can actually read a decent amount of pages in a certain time. I need to learn to stop compare myself to other readers because I am in my core, a slow reader (that was at least the case with Stephen King’s – Under the Dome).

I have been pretty active during the 7in7-Readathon, I failed, but I did alright for my first readathon. I read 865 pages in total, in 7 days.

I am now participating in “The Reading Quest”, created by ReadingAtMidnight and BoutOfBooks. For either of those I don’t really have a TBR pile because I’m a big mood reader. I did kind of plan what I could read for the bingo board of The reading Quest, but I already changed that the moment the readathon started, so yeah, that’s that.

The second weekend in September is also the final date to finish Jeffrey Archer’s – Kane and Abel… This book…. I didn’t like it at the beginning, I got really angry with Jeffrey for certain stuff and the sexism (since it’s taking place in the 1920’s and earlier). I like the story of both boys, but the writing style is new for me so it’s going to take a while to get used to, but since this book is over 400 pages, it shouldn’t be a problem.

I’ve always wondered why I stopped going to libraries; maybe it was because they didn’t have a large collection of English YA or maybe I thought the cover of books were more important then the story, but I refound my love for libraries and got 4 books.
All the light we can not see from Anthony Doerr
2 John Green books; WillGrayson, Will Grayson (which I absolutly loved, I gave it 4/5 stars on Goodreads) and An abundence of Katherine,
and I’m currently listening to the audiobook of Caraval from Stephanie Garber, wich I’m not enjoying all that much. I guess that’s the problem with overhyped books, sometimes they do live up to the expectation but sometimes they give more frustations because it’s not what you thought it would be. I don’t like the characters, they feel very one dimensional and there’s no character development at all. The world building is something I do like in this book because of the details.
